The creation of the YORKSHIRE sandwich bread

In 2007 Fosters poineered the launch of the first nationally sold sandwich based on 100% locally grown wheat.        John Foster brought together multiple partners from the supply chain.   Farmer, flour miller, baker, sandwich maker and sandwich retailer worked together.          To check out the supply chain the whole team walked the supply chain in a day from soil to sandwich.

Here is the story in pictures:-

The wheat for this loaf was grown at the farm of George Moate, Clayton, Barnsley, South YorkshireSandwich range sold by Boots the Chemist made entirely from Yorkshire wheat, flour and bread. A first for the UK.

Fosters Bakery did it first !   Other bigger bakeries have since boasted that they were first but they weren’t, no, not by a full year at least.
