Fosters Bakery - a high tech approach to learning - 28/06/2005

Fosters Bakery have been part of the team that have developed the "BITE" interactive learning tool for the baking industry. The product comprises a comprehensive course on baking covering all aspects of craft and plant baking. John Foster: "There are loads of training resources on health & safety and food hygiene. What was missing was the material to train people in the basics of baking technology. With this resource we effectively provides that missing ingredient. John Foster - Director of Food Technology Centre - 20/08/2004

John Foster is a board member of the Yorkshire Food Technology Advisory Service (FTAS)a company funded by the regional development organisation Yorkshire Forward. "FTAS provided our business with some invaluable help and advice; a very fast response AND at zero cost. When invited onto the board, I jumped at the opportunity" (John Foster) FTAS provides free and hugely subsidised assistance for food companies throughout the region. FTAS have guided several companies through BRC accreditation and have helped smaller companies gain technical approval to supply major supermarkets. They have a staff of suitably experienced and qualified food technologists providing help on other technical issues such as packaging, product development, shelf life testing, process design and many other unusual specific issues. Fosters Bakery only use vegetarian cheese - 23/04/2004

Fosters Bakery only uses vegetarian cheese in its cheese products. Cheese is made using rennet, which traditionally has come from a dead animal. Fosters only buy cheese that contains the vegetarian yeast-made rennet. (see the statement in our food section under “policies”)

John Foster is Chairman of IFG Food and Tourism - 15/04/2004

Fosters Bakery Managing Director, John Foster, is the Chairman of the IFG committee for Food and Tourism. IFG (Invest For Growth) is a scheme funded by Objective 1 and provides grant funding for growing businesses in South Yorkshire. John Foster is chair of the Food and Tourism committee which is responsible for approving funding in these industry sectors.
