RAILWAY STATIONS

To get to Fosters Bakery by rail you need to contact us and we’ll collect you from the station.

The nearest station is DARTON 1 mile away but this is little more that a beer crate by the side of the track.  It is an unmanned station for infrequent local trains between Sheffield and Leeds.

The nearest main line stations is WAKEFIELD WESTGATE.   This is 8 miles away; we will arrange to meet you at the station.   It’s about 2 hours from London Kings Cross.

BARNSLEY Station is a branch line station.  It is 3 miles away; we will arrange to meet you at the station.

BUSSES

Busses pass through the village on routes between:-  

Barnsley and Wakefield
Barnsley and Royston (some)
Barnsley and Staincross
Barnsley and Huddersfield
Barnsley and Kexborough

Ask at the Bus terminal for the right routes.     

Barnsley people are really helpful and friendly.  You can expect locals on the bus to want to engage in conversation with you and they may call you “love”  - even men to men (it is just the local friendliness and has no other implications - neither same gender or cross gender)

Our advice is to welcome any such conversations; you will get material to dine out on for years to come.

AIRPORTS

The nearest airports are: Leeds Bradford, Manchester, Doncaster Robin Hood & East Midlands.   They are all about the same distance (in time) by car.

Chances are that for business you’ll fly into Manchester.    It is just over 1 hour by car from our bakery so if you are travelling by air we’ll arrange to collect you at the airport.

London Heathrow is 4 hours drive.
London Gatwick is 5 to 6 hours drive.
London Stanstead is 4 hours drive.
London City - forget it !
Birmingham is 2 hours drive.

If you have a private aircraft the nearest airport is Sheffield - 15 minutes away and if you are coming to us by helecopter you can land it in my back garden.   I’ll tell the neighbours that it’s my new toy!
